Shadows

Today I went into Philadelphia with a friend to help her move artwork from her apartment to her studio at University.  I didn't have much time to snap photos as we were busy, but I did catch a few.  The city is a great place to find inspiration, with so many people condensed in one area.

At night the city still inspires me, but in different ways.  The shadows cast on the buildings by the street posts seem to take on lives of their own.

Shadows not cast by the sun seem different to me than those that are.  Seeing them tonight reminded me of a film I love and haven't thought of in a while.  It's an anime called Tenshi no Tamago, or "Angel's Egg", directed by Mamoru Oshii.  The film is vague and dreamlike, but what I really love about it is the artwork and lack of dialogue.  Check it out if you like anime films. :)

One of my favorite scenes. [source]
You can watch it in parts on Youtube. Click here for part one.

In other news, I found a super cool Alice in Wonderland tea set at "The Tea Place".  I didn't buy it, but dream to when I move and get a new job. :)  It's so cute with colored illustrations!
